ABOUT THE GROUP

Hunter Trebles comes under the umbrella of Hunter Singers, the highly successful regional choir which has been operating for the past 25 years. Many members of the group have successfully auditioned to be part of Hunter Singers when they go to high school. Hunter Trebles aims to provide students in government primary schools with the opportunity to sing in a quality vocal ensemble. Students learn to sing in a fun environment where their talents are nurtured.

PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES

Hunter Trebles performs three major concerts a year as part of the Hunter Singers Subscription Concerts. In addition to this, they participate in the Primary Choral Concerts at the Sydney Opera House, a Schools Tour and the King Edward Park Carols By Candlelight.

COSTS

Hunter Trebles is subsidised by the Department of Education and Communities and the fees represent very good value for the minimal cost of $95 per term. Uniforms are $90, including three performance T-shirts and performance pants.

HOW TO APPLY

The selection process for Hunter Trebles involves learning to sing a song in a non-threatening group situation. Students then sing that song and Advance Australia Fair in a group. We are just checking to see that the singers are able to hold a tune and are keen to be involved.

To be eligible to audition students should be in years 4-6 in a government school, be able to sing in tune, and willing to be committed to the choir for each rehearsal and performance.

Auditions take place at regular rehearsals at Merewether HS, Pokolbin Street entrance, 5.00pm-6.30pm each Tuesday. Phone Kim Sutherland 0412 496138 for an audition time.

Rehearsals will be held every Tuesday during school terms at Merewether High School from 5.00pm to 6.30pm. Choir members will be expected to attend every rehearsal.
